Matrot Meursault 1er Cru 'Les Charmes' 2021
From 4 different parcels in both Charmes Dessous & Charmes Dessus and vines with an average age of 30 years. Les Charmes is considered the archetype of Meursault wines. This appellation is the largest of the Meursault Premier Cru wines. We own four plots, of which 70% are located in Charmes Dessus. Les Charmes is a well-balanced wine with both the ampleness of the Charmes Dessous and the minerality and elegance of the Charmes Dessus. Charming in appearance, it is both powerful and full-bodied with a soft and full finish. Adele & Elsa Matrot
'The Matrots used bougies and pruned late so there was a bit more crop here, though still only 8 barrels instead of 20. First generation grapes have given a richer, riper nose. More complete on the palate, fills out all the way, nicely nuanced with some citrus at the finish which is altogether more persistent. Better texture as well.' 90-93 Points. 'Pear, apple and acacia blossom scents are trimmed in both hints of wood and toasted hazelnut. The wonderfully rich, round and supple flavors possess a highly seductive texture while exhibiting fine length on the more refined if slightly austere finish. This isn't especially dense but the bright citrus-tinged and firm acidity shaping the mouthfeel makes this highly refreshing. This tension-filled effort is also really quite lovely.' 90-93 Points. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
