Value (and High Quality) Chablis from Chantemerle
Chantemerle Chablis 1er Cru 'Fourchaume' 2022
This is an absolute steal at $74 a bottle, it's not uncommon to see Petit Chablis retailing at higher prices than this Chantemerle Chablis 1er Cru.
Whilst the AC is fantastic, this is definitely a step up. More intensity, more concentration yet retains the zip and verve we love in Chablis. Flavours of salted crusted lemon, white grapefruit and white stone fruit show an extra dimension of fruit. It's so seamless in its balance of weight and acid, so whilst complexity is clearly here the drinkability is so high that the bottle will be finished before you get a chance to assess it. Highly recommended. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
Chantemerle Chablis 2022
It would be hard to argue that this isn't the best vale AC Chablis going around - and at the same price as last year too!
At first smell is the immediately recognisable Chablis trademark seashell saltiness, building on that are aromas of hay and citrus pith. Structurally on the palate it shows lovely weight and texture, built from plenty of lees contact. Despite only using stainless steel here, it displays the power of the vintage with great ripeness apparent without losing its shape. It closes with a fantastic rocky, wet stone mineral feel begging you to pair it with some oysters. Can't miss at this price. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
